I saw TAAB BEFORE it was released..in New Orleans Municipal Auditorium. 1972. An incredible show. I would have the great fortune of actually meeting Ian Anderson in the summer of 1995 on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles at a place called .Ben Franks.It's not there anymore..but Ian walked in and no one recognized him..except for me. Was an amazing experience to chat with him.

This video reminds me of the days of my youth. "Locomotive Breath” by British progressive rock band Jethro Tull was released on their 1971 album Aqualung. The song, written as a comment on population growth, was meant to replicate the chugging rhythm of a train. It has become one of Jethro Tull’s best-known songs. I remember playing ping pong in my neighborhood friend's garage listing to Jethro Tull's "Locomotive Breath". Man, the pace of play got stronger and stronger as we listened to it. "Thick as a Brick" came later. Thanks to Ian and his bandmates!

I wish I could have seen them back then. I'm 51 and love This band. You can't use a flute in a rock n roll band ! Oh yea watch me. Priceless!

I saw this same show at HIC arena in Honolulu. I'm pretty sure Martin Barre wore the same vertical striped pants. It seemed like half the show Ian Anderson stood on one leg. Glen Cornick is one of my favorite bass players, I was sorry to see he had left the band, but I was glad to see Barrymore Barlow was well up to the task. What a great show.

Saw them 3 times in live concert, in the 70s, 80s, and again in 2000. Ian was moving a little slower but he still rocked that flute!

Love Jethro Tull, Ian plays and sings with so much passion! seen them live in August 1976 at the old Cavaliers Richmond Coliseum, great concert, I think he had his best band behind him that Year what a great lineup of songs!!!

I watched these special group of entertainers, about the same age, would have been in my late teens in the Edmonton Collisiem. Was a seat, that was deemed, a, constricted view. Say everything, from the front stage to the back stage! They hung the speakers up high, was awesome! I am going to be 65, in a few months, I don't think that any of these musicians today, even come close to those groups back then. What comes close to Tull, Eagles, Zep, LRB, BOC, Styz, Queen, Rush, so many others, just makes me sad, what rock has become.

Always wondered if Ian would have liked a vocal mic other than an SM57, but since the flute sounded great (and was appropriate for), he just went with it

I saw Jethro Tull 3 times from 1969-1972. The energy of Ian Anderson was pure electric. It was like watching musical theater. Tull was a very unique band with great players.
